SmartThings Find for iOS

Role

Team Lead

Led the development team through a broad set of requirements on a tight schedule while shaping a maintainable map architecture for SmartThings Find on iOS.

SmartThings Find brings Samsung's location finding experience to iPhone users through the SmartThings app. iOS users can open it from the Life tab to locate supported devices and items.

Samsung has announced Galaxy SmartTag3 as the first Galaxy SmartTag with cross platform support for Galaxy and iOS devices. With SmartTag3, supported iOS users will be able to check and share a tag's location and use Search Nearby through SmartThings Find.

My main responsibility was leading the development team at Samsung R&D Institute Indonesia. I guided the team through a broad set of requirements within a tight development schedule, coordinating technical decisions, reviewing implementations, resolving engineering challenges, and keeping the team aligned toward delivery.

Despite the scope and a relatively small team, we completed our responsibilities on schedule while maintaining the quality required for a production release. Alongside my leadership responsibilities, I contributed directly to the frontend architecture and helped shape the map architecture so map specific behavior remained separate from application logic as the product evolved.

This project is meaningful to me because it supports a more cross platform SmartThings ecosystem. With Galaxy SmartTag3, supported iOS users will be able to use SmartThings Find alongside Galaxy users, making the experience more useful for families and groups using a mix of devices. Seeing SmartThings Find become available on iOS and SmartTag3's compatibility announcement is especially rewarding after leading an amazing team that helped bring the experience to production.
